I think we've got to a point now where Rand is the most dangerous man in the world, and not the Forsaken. There is something awry going on - the Pattern is literally becoming dark around him. He's on the verge of trying to kill people, and his temper and sanity are out of the window. He's even toying with the True Power. In the scene with Moridin and Rand, it's difficult to say who's more evil.
Rand committed a mass atrocity by trying to slay Graendal. In the end he was probably correct in doing so. This is the way to kill a Forsaken. The wrong way is to meet them on their terms and try and duel them with the Power and see who is stronger or more skilled. Rand has come short most times, because the Forsaken set the stage and fill it with traps. With Graendal he knew how she worked, and he did the one thing she would not suspect. He did the insane thing, which the master of the mind would not think of.
Still, the man is a rabid dog. If you're on the verge of killing your own father, you're past it I'm afraid. I've actually for the first time considered the idea that Rand should be shielded by a circle of thirteen and unleashed at the Last Battle. The man is a huge liability. He must die soon - he's worse than Taim, Logain or any of the male Forsaken. One can feel the tension in the pages when he's around. No one is safe.

Remember Min's viewing of the lights and the blackness. Rand needs Perrin and Mat by to win.

Seems to me it has to be believed for storytelling reasons if nothing else.
