Either:

1. Offer to cook a special dish or treat him to a nice restaurant *after* you are done with the book; or

2. Threaten favorite dishes will not be made for him for XXX days if he does not; or

3. Appeal to his sense of guilt - I do all these things for you (list a few...) - how come you can't once treat your mom!

Or better - all of the above.

If it does not work, go to the store and get the book yourself, locate a good cafe and treat yourself to a nice breakfast there. Son can cook his own, right?
