IIRC the whole world went dark when the bore was drilled. I expect the same thing to happen when the last seal breaks.
. . .weren't the seals simply anchors for whatever weaving was done to seal the bore? I don't believe they themselves were responsible for actually keeping the big fella out, they just ensured the permanence of his prison. In which case their loss would lead to the weave's eventual dissipation (helped along by the DO's efforts), but not an immediate evaporation. Right? That seems to be what I remember.
I don't know, I guess I've always figured that the knots that tied the weave off were encased in Cuillander (sp?), and that's what the seals are. The DO can't work on the knots without strengthening the seals, but if the seals are broken, he can work at untying them. So you said it the best, an eventual dissipation rather than a sudden break.
What would be interesting would be if the Seals resembled the Shield that Rand broke through when he was at Dumai's Wells.

Yeah, it depends on what the seals actually are.

I don't think they're holding the bore open so much as preventing a better patch from being made.
