He is only commanding around 6,000 or so troops. He doesn't even have complete control of the white cloaks yet.

His main power will be in creating alliances. But I still have a hard time seeing him being super-effective right now. Galad also has a proximity to Rand and to Perrin that could help enhance his strength. Plus, Rand knows that he is Galad's half-brother.

The only thing I can think is that Rand might give Galad a major command post for the Last Battle. But I don't know the circumstances that would bring Rand and Galad together-- other than Galad unites with Perrin, and Perrin in turn reunites with Rand.
