It certainly could have been worded differently.... Light in the Night Send a noteboard - 16/03/2013 08:36:48 AM

Ok, I never got into all the Bela, Narg, whatever stuff, but am I wrong that the final sentence she gets is the worst in the entire series? I didn't need her to do something massive, but, holy cow, "...then died" is like, "exit stage left."

I was at the point that I cared somewhat (but not much), and then that line hit me and caused such a blip in the story that I did care, against my will. Argh.

Again, I'm having trouble being entirely fair - I was always fairly fond of the Pony That Could, but something struck me as entirely wrong about that line.

If you are going to give her a glorious death, then something along the lines of: "Bela struggled to regain her feet, but the long run had taken too much out of her, the wound too grievous. With a final exhausted heave, she rolled to her side and let out one last shuddering breath, then fell still."

For my money, I would much rather have seen her end up at Shayol Ghul and have Rand ride off on her. That would have been much more satisfying, if a bit on the mushy side.

Where once was Shadow
Now reigns Light
Darkness fades
Into the Night

I made the switch!

well, i think that's more to do with the author than the scene.... - 18/03/2013 07:55:19 PM 777 Views
