A man would have to grab saidin through someone else's connection. I think this is what's "impossible". You need to surrender yourself to initiate a link and let the other half of the OP (or your own, for single gender linking)¨"come", and only a woman can do this safely. If a man tried to initiate a link that way, saidin would burn him out.

BUT... the BA has a method to force a woman into a circle, so it's possible that "forceful" method, which can't possibly involve a surrender from the "victim" (unless it involves a weave of the Compulsion family forcing someone to surrender herself to the TS) could also work top develop a method for a man to initiate a link. It's probably very unpleasant, though.

One thing for sure: as much as the AOL knew of OP mechanics and laws, they were also very set in their way and seemed unable to "think outside the box" much, at least where the fundamentals/absolutes like linking, what's impossible with the OP etc. are concerned. So all those "impossible" are worth only so much, unless it's a RJ statement, and even then we have to be careful of the context, whether he was speaking in the absolute or was explaining things as they are understood in the series.

For e.g., there's obviously a way to Travel without Gateways. It's what a Portal Stone does, but the Aes Sedai never found out how this worked exactly: they power the Stone and the ter'angreal does the rest. The mechanics must be completely different from the opening of Gateways, because Constructs can be moved around this way. Same for Portals like Waygates (which incidentally are pretty much to the Portal Stone method what Skimming is to Traveling).
