We are not talking about a normal distribution in any case darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 20/11/2012 04:44:24 AM
There is no reason to believe Daigian is .3SD below the Mean.

If 62.5% of channelers are stronger than Daigan, and strength in channeling is normally distributed, then Daigan is 0.32 standard deviations below the mean. Plain and simple.

The only thing we can say for certain at this point is that Morgase and Lanfear are the same number of SDs from the Mean.

How can we say that for certain? Who knows how many people like Morgase the Aes Sedai ignored because they didn't happen to be nobles with a tradition for training in the Tower?

We've been through this a million times. You can't have both a linear and a non-linear Bell Curve.

As for Morgase, she's been put forth as the weakest possible woman by implication if not overtly stated. Regardless, she is the proxy for the 0-level Channeler on our scale. However you look at it the Strongest possible woman and the weakest possible woman MUST be equidistant from the Mean.
