Not true if you follow the rules and know all of them and the nature of the treaties (which the Finns conveniently don't tell you...they remind you of your duties but say nothing of your rights!). As long as Moridin entered through the Tear Doorway, he was safe. Much safer given his knowledge than Rand and co., the AS and all the rulers of Mayene who entered that Doorway in the past.
Okay, but I do think that the deceptive nature of the Finns has never been subtle. We know that the game originated because there was no way to win. You have to cheat. Seems like dealing with them is notoriously dangerous. RJ also made some effort saying that you often didn't get what you asked for.
It's likely the people in the AOL never used these people once they realized how cunning and deceptive they were.
Actually, that "attitude toward the Shadow" is something we have to reconsider after TOM given that they dealt with two Forsaken.
Yes I have been wondering about this too. Before we knew about Cyndane, I thought the Finns killed Lanfear merely because she is one of the Forsaken. It's possible they didn't know that Moridin is one of the Chosen, though. They'd know Lanfear though.
I actually wondered whether you could tie the Finn genes into your theory. Maybe after Aginor captured them and used them to make Shadowspawn, they declared war on the Shadow.
So ok, now they know how to make devices to block channelers? Or you think it's more believable the Aes Sedai of the AOL would have provided Sindhol with a whole set of technology meant to protect against, shield and otherwise neutralize channelers?
I don't know, and I'm comforted by the fact that no one else does either It's possible that the Finn's taught Aes Sedai how to make ter'angreal, and its possible the Aes Sedai taught the Finns, or at least traded with them.
What's very suspicious is that both Nynaeve's neutralizing ter'angreal and Mat's medallion seem to shock both Cyndane and Aran'gar when they encounter them. Despite the fact that Aginor made the neutralizing gholam, it seems like the technology was unheard of. That doesn't mean that it wasn't traded with the Finn's post war of Power, though. These devices started to come into being during the Breaking.
We've seen that they can hold channelers. Moiraine was in some sort of coma/stasis, and I'll bet anything Lanfear looked the same when Moridin found her.
Lanfear doesn't kill unless she must. She had a far bigger problem than Moiraine, and it was getting herself out of there now the only safe and garanteed exit was destroyed. It wouldn't have been wise to kill Moiraine until she was sure she couldn't use her to bargain her way out of there.
LOL, are we talking about the same Forsaken? Lanfear?! I can't think of a more impulsive Forsaken, except perhaps Balthamel.
Lanfear is the most frivolous killer - she killed Kadere merely for angering her. Also, place the scene in context. She had just been rejected for the last time by Lews Therin and was slowly killing him. She'd also killed many people at the harbour, and half-killed Egwene and Aviendha. And she most certainly knows who Moiraine is. If the two of them fell through that doorway, I highly doubt that Lanfear would have been cool-blooded enough to weigh her options. She was in the midst of an insane meltdown. Even from the other angle, I doubt Moiraine would have merely stood there. She knows who Lanfear is and what she was busy doing - I suspect she would have given her the same treatment she gave Be'lal given the chance.
My guess is one of the two managed to shield and bind with air the other, than waited for the arrival of the Eelfinn.
The other possibility is that both were burnt out when they fell through. It also makes sense that both would ask for their ability back, knowing how channelers covet their gifts. Whether the Finns can do this is also debatable, though it would serve their needs if they could.
