If passing through miscellaneous villages, testing everyone, and accepting everyone isn't a random sample then god help us all.


They did not test everyone. They opened the Novice book and told women of all ages that they're welcome to try. Many women would have had family ties that would have held them back. Or other jobs they're happy with. Or did not like Aes Sedai. Or didn't have the guts. Or thought about it for too long and missed the chance. Or were unwell at the time.

That's why this is not a random sample.
