It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Sorry, it was too easy to quote Shakespeare in the subject line.
Wheel of Time is entertainment fiction and any attempts at analysis would be a waste of time. Although at one point Jordan made the statement, "It'll be like War and Peace," it's unclear whether he was filled with baseless hubris or just referring to the perceived length (though I would posit that La Comédie Humaine would be a more apt metaphor for length, albeit one that most of his fans would not recognize).
My criticisms of Wheel of Time only started when the series began to drag and the entertainment value dropped precipitously. I am only going to judge Jordan (and Sanderson writing for Jordan) on his own terms. I am not going to compare him to Dickens or Tolstoy or Mann, because he never set out to write significant literature, nor did he seek to write aesthetic literature or any other form of artistic or belletristic expression.
Even on its own terms, I think the series collapsed under its own weight. Jordan was unable or unwilling to edit out the unnecessary, and the series "got away" from him, so to speak. He became unclear where the series should go and struggled to get pieces together in the middle books. This was doubly fatal to the series as the time wasted also ultimately robbed fans of the author himself. Time was not on his side, and by losing sight of his goal he never had the chance to reach it.
There will be an ending, but I think only the most diehard fans will really be satisfied with it. Everyone else will likely breathe a deep sigh, say, "Well, it's over," and move on to other things.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
