His sense of freedom and relief (thought he didn't express it as such) at not having more WOT to write must be immense. What a daunting task it must have been to try to finish RJ's series. It is nice to hear him humbly admit that he screwed a lot of stuff up. His strategy for dividing up the materials into 3 books turned out to be disastrous IMO. But at the same time, I am very grateful that he undertook the task and gave it his best shot. Maybe other authors would have done better, maybe not. We'll never know.

But I do wonder what effect this has on his own writing career. The first two books of his opus magnum, the Stormlight Archive, will be separated by nearly four years it seems. That cannot be good for trying to get a solid fan base for the series. It seems that most authors wait until they have their fans by the nuts (after the first few books in a series) before they start having long delays between books. I am really looking forward to the rest of the books of the Stormlight Archive.

I am excited for AMOL, but mostly only to find out the ending. I enjoyed TGS quite a bit when I first read it. ToM was a tough read that retroactively destroyed TGS for me as well once it became clear how Rand's veins of gold moment was meant to be. Maybe I will be surprised and thoroughly enjoy AMOL. But in any case, thank you Brandon for taking up RJ's mantle and getting this done.
