The Elayne irritation Sidious Send a noteboard - 20/02/2012 09:48:13 AM
After reading Cannoli's post I forgot what an irritating character Elayne is. Of all the main females she is probably the most underwhelming. There was a time when Min competed for this position, but at least we know now that she will end up saving the world due to her amazing philosophical gift from who-knows-where.

Elayne, however, remains a pale shade of grey.

Now the battle for the Lion throne has been politically deft, but about as exciting as Perrin's search for Faile. Where we had to deal with Perrin murmuring Faile... Faile... Faile... all the time like a zombie, we had to deal with Elaynes rants about the ancient lineage of Andor and how much she needs power to exist. Of course, being one of the Dragon's playthings does provide him with an advantage now that she is Queen, but this all comes down to squabbling about who the new queen of England while the devil is on the verge of release and all of hell is waiting to invade the world. It was kind of sweet to see her defeat her opponents using political tactics, much like watching british parliament where one guy gets the up on the other and everyone chuckles smugly. Ultimately a bit of a bag of wind though, considering this is such an intricate manoevre to undo what Rahvin did in a few days. Its like Egwene trying to become Amyrlin two years after she defeated Mesaana.

Moving on, Elayne will probably never be scolded for her incompetence regarding the Black Ajah. Thanks to her hundreds of people are dead. Who in their right mind storms a house filled with Sisters? There could have been 10 women in there. What if Moghedien was there? It was poorly thought out and incompetent. Naturally she needed to be rescued which cost the lives of hundreds of men and the loss of horses and other equipment. She never feels bad about this either, or reflects on it. While it is true that people die on war, it was preventable. Its doubtful she will ever have to answer for this atrocity, everyone is too busy giggling because they have a queen who looks so much like Morgase. When Egwene wanted to catch the BA she did it with subtlety and cleverly so that this sort of thing would not happen.

Down with Elayne, Queen of Andor but low achiever in general....
