I'm not exactly thinking hard about these things. They all seem pretty logical and simple to me. Pulling the earth out from under a group of soldiers already sounds like a fantastic idea to me.
Earth is one of the powers that is weakest in females, and nobody, in 13 books, has ever done it. That is what I mean by creating new tactics. Even easier is to open a gateway to 1,000 feet straight up over the command post of your enemies and turn them into artillery for your side. However, nobody in Randland is doing anything like that.
Like I said, C armored troops would be much more effective, and more resistant to the OP battlefield tactics that have been used to date than the current forces.
