That made me think of a scene I just read in TPOD, I think it was in the prologue- Verin weaving quasi-compulsion on one of the reds captured at Dumai's Wells. Also in the same scene it describes a notebook she has with notes about flowers and such and how she should write down the cipher so she doesn't forget how to decode it, and she has an entire room full of similar books in Tar Valon. I don't know how I missed so many clues that Verin was Black Ajah on my first couple read throughs. So many things are popping out now that I'm going back over everything
A Black sister would have no reason to write things down that must not be read. On the other hand, someone taking notes on the Black Ajah would have every reason to make her notes appear innocuous. Also someone who has been secretly researching things about the Dragon Reborn, as Verin was shown to be doing. These things only pop out now because in hindsight readers are slotting stuff into a pattern.
