Okay, just wondering. How are you going to enjoy the final novel of this epic series? Questions:

I plan to sit down and read it. Unconventional but practical.

1. When did you start reading WOT? Year and what were you doing in life.

It would have been in early 1999, I believe. Path of Dagger was out in hardcover but not yet in softcover, and Winter's Heart would be out later that year. I was 15 years old and most of my reading to that point had been Star Wars and Hardy Boys books, so I was ripe for something new. One day when my mother was late picking me up from the mall, I went through the bookstore trying to find the biggest books I could. The Wheel of Time series caught my eye under these rules, and I picked up the first book and was hooked.

2. Where is your life now and where will it be in early 2012, when aMoL comes out?

Thirteen years later, I am no longer a Grade Ten student with limited exposure to stories. I'll be 28 instead of 15. I don't think I really need to write out everything about my life right now, because none of it is relevent to my relationship with the series. Except to say that I'm a lot more discerning about what I read these days, given that I can't devour thousand-page books in a week like I used to. Books 8 through 10 of Wheel of Time turned me off of the series, and I didn't even read Book 11 until 12 was on its way out. Sanderson's voice on the series is what has brought me back, and I highly enjoy what he's done. Books 8 through 11 felt stale and slow and bloated and uninteresting to me. That's not an insult toward people who enjoyed them. But I didn't enjoy them very much at all.

3. Will you pick up the book the first day it is out? If no, when will you?

I don't know if it will be the first day, but I'll get it in hardcover soon after it comes out.

4. Will you read it as quickly as possible or linger with it since it is the end of an era (why/why not)?

I linger with all my books now. Typically I read much of my fiction during lunch breaks at work, so it takes me a while to finish something.

5. Where will you read the book, i.e., what is your go-to location?

At my work desk, eating lunch. If I'm caught up in it I might read some in my reading chair at home, which is an old comfy chair that sits in my living room next to my shelf of history books.

6. Do you think we have read the last of the WOT world or does Harriet have something up her sleeve for the future?

I hope this is the last of it. With the original creator gone, I feel that writing more stories, whether he intended to get to them one day or not, could only dilute the overall narrative. Not to mention the fact that you would not be able to get a high profile writer (such as Sanderson or anyone else) to write prequels or sequels or side-projects, because none of those would be as prestigious or as interesting to someone as finishing the real series. Chances are good you would get someone who normally writes Forgotten Realms books or somesuch, and that can be very hit or miss. I wouldn't care to read such books. I hope that Wheel of Time doesn't become a never-ending licensed cash cow.
