A Dance of Dragons will influence A Memory of Light? beelaa Send a noteboard - 28/07/2011 03:30:30 PM
(I really don't know these books - I have only read the first half of the first asoiaf book. Too much rape/killing/sex. - but i read lots of forums.)

The backslash is huge. Almost everybody says: despite its length (cca. 420 000 words, if I recall correctly) nothing happens in A Dance of Dragons.

Filler. Padding.

We (wot fans) know these words. Every Perrin/Faile chapter (Why Perrin didn't die in book 4??? He is useless.), almost every Elayne's chapter, Rand's chapters (from aCoS to aCoT) ... Unfortunately, Sanderson follows Jordan's path: the last two books have many, many filler chapters. (Around 60% , I think.)

Mr. Sanderson,

the best advice I can give you is this:

I know the book will be a bestseller but the last WoT book is very important to me/us. We don't need more fluff, rehashing, summarizes, rehashing, summarizes, fluff. If you could write the in book in 400 pages (cca. 150 000 words), then write it in 400 pages.

It's impossible for nothing to happen in AMoL. - 28/07/2011 07:30:02 PM 1354 Views

Those who says that nothing happens in ADWD really need to read CoT - 29/07/2011 12:02:23 PM 1134 Views

A Dance of Dragons is hardly filler. *shrugs* *NM* - 31/07/2011 04:43:58 PM 613 Views
Agreed. It could be argued that more happens in the epilogue of ADWD than all of CoT. *NM* - 01/08/2011 01:27:58 AM 395 Views

I regret wasting much of July reading it, so I respectfully disagree. - 02/08/2011 04:41:39 AM 939 Views
I do request that you don't lump ALL of fantasy into those two authors - 02/08/2011 06:08:21 AM 929 Views
