RJ used a different desctriptive narative method from virtually any other writer for sword combats, but he did describe the aftermath of battlefields on several occasions; especially through the eyes of Perrin.

I think it does make them unrealistic. Stylistic choices determine how these scenes are conveyed.

WoT combat scenes are highly overrated. The non-OP fight scenes aresn't even scenes at all
