He gives Berelain a connection to the Queen of Andor, he's the LCC of the Children, who are still significant military force and retain some political influence and also a connection to the Dragon Reborn through Elayne (who she thinks the Dragon intends to marry). Add to that he's apparently the most handsome man alive, I am not too bothered that Berelain fell in love with him so quickly.
When she learns that Galad is Rand's half-brother, his other half-brother is marrying the Amyrlin, and Galad's cousin Caraline is marrying the King of Tear, Berelain's love will get even stronger.

He's a decent political match I agree, though more for his link to Cairhien (an enemy of Tear) than than to Andor, who are too far away from Mayene to be of much use. Still, Berelain's own status is nothing to sneeze at now: Mayene is still tiny, but she has the trust of the Dragon Reborn, and is on good terms with Perrin too. At this point Berelain could probably take her pick of political husbands - high Cairhienin or Illianer nobility would do nicely. She could do better than Galad.
(though you're right about the handsome, it's kinda scary to think how good looking their kids will be)
I wouldn't object at all except that none of that matters. If he was a swineherd she passed on the road, she'd still be dazzle-eyed and tongue-tied over him, and that's just sad. Perhaps RJ thought this was some kind of come-uppance, the player getting a taste of her own medicine, but I liked vamp!Berelain. She was honest.
Egwene vs. Gawyn (ToM spoilers of course)

What is to discuss here? You hate Egwene and will spin anything to put her in a negative light

Which was why I thought it was appropriate, since he meant to act as Egwene's Warder.

The only issue is that Warders are not minions - they are honored junior partners.

No, the junior partners are Accepted. Warders are essentially personal bodyguards and/or assistants.

Accepted are not anything, let alone junior partners. Don't think N&E's experience was typical
