He was in dire danger that his efforts would be for nothing as Rand had in effect abandonned him and let him be a decoy to keep the Shadow busy, but after Dragonmount Rand has no intention to hold to this stupid plan.

Help for Lan is coming shortly - for one thing the massive Borderland joined armies are again available, and there's Perrin who needs to join the wolves assembling now in the north and who happens to share Lan's (as yet unknown by Lan, but that won't last very long) archenemy, Isam. Not a garantee Perrin will be the one asked to go north by Rand, but it's certainly a possiblity, strengthened even more by the fact he's Tenobia's cousin - and, should anything happen soon to Davram, a likely candidate to get the wolfhead baton of Marshall-General of Saldaea (would be just like Tenobia to gain authority over Faile's husband like this, especially that she'll ressent Faile for marrying, and marrying a man like this, for sure. We've been given the signs Tenobia will be envious and jealous of Faile, and that Faile enjoys making her cousin jealous..). Then theres's the fact Rand has other duties, and when he learns about Mat's marriage

Heck, there's even Moiraine who's free again, has a very powerful angreal (a huge hint Moiraine was set by Jordan to see some action more than play "advisor" around Rand after she's told him what he needs to hear from her). There's thus Moiraine and Nynaeve to influence decisions (if there's any need for that, Rand too has plans). Tarwyn's Gap is one of those iconic places the Green Ajah will want to be part of. For all the spin and good face the WT has put on it, the Greens are probably angry and ashamed Malkier fell without them showing.

Then there's the fact Mat is tied in the heartland and it would be a waste to send him to Tarwyn's Gap. There's the battle in Caemlyn where the Band is, and his ties to Tuon are no doubt crucial. The field is probably not the best place for Mat early on either, he's far too precious as a strategist/tactician.

But still, I believe Rand will want to have a ta'veren with each large group of the Light, and it's likely a large group of the Light will be involved at Tarwyn's Gap, so IMO the main characters about to join Lan will include Moiraine and Perrin. The thing is, Nynaeve's become way too pivotal to go north. She's Rand's defender and insider near Egwene, for one thing, and the best Healer needs be available for Rand, and she's committed to go with Rand to SG... so she'll stay where she can find Rand. That's a huge sacrifice she makes, her heart is rather in the north with Lan. In many ways, she's become Moiraine. I get the feeling when Moiraine sees this, she'll honor and repay Nynaeve by accepting that while she's wish to be in the heart of things at Rand's side, her place is to go fight with Lan and look out for him as if he were still her warder, and finish with him the war they undertook together decades ago (she's the only living person in the Light, now that Verin's dead, who knows the truth about Isam and the fact the prophecies says he's in the High Passes - a secret she kept from Lan because she feared he would abandon her to hunt him down if she did...She owes Lan for this too). Of course, before that Moiraine has important things to do with Rand, or to tell him - that will be taken care of at the Fields, I think.

Another who might part with Rand at the Fields is Cadsuane, now that she trusts Min. No offense to Adelorna (who broke down during the Seanchan attack - one wonder how she would have fared leading the Green Ajah against dreadlords and Forsaken...), but the Green Ajah will really need leaders like Cadsuane, and the Ajah needs a serious kick in the butt only her can give. She also has something to teach all the Asha'man... the Fields may be when they will be assembled together... all those loyal to Rand.

As for Logain it is to be hoped he's gonna put himself together even better as a leader, has toned down his ressent and jealousy toward Rand (Logain is the one with whom LTT has the opportunity to correct what he did wrong with his subordinates in the WOS that some of the most powerful ones hated him so much they joined the ranks of the Shadow with that as their prime motivation...) and won't let a perceived debt to Nyaneve be the judge of his decisions to engage his whole force, especially not unilaterally without coordinating with Rand... That could be catastrophic at this point, this sort of personal venture when the Light needs to unite and come under a coordinated leadership to be able to face that of Moridin... especially after Shai'tan's powers suddenly increase and his grip on the forces of the Shadow becomes much tigther. Logain has an even bigger personal debt to Egwene, while Rand has apologies to make to Logain (Rand was delusional about the BT, and largely made his calls about Taim, when he at least strongly suspected Logain was right with his accusations, out of ressent/dislike for Logain and the fact the Asha'man respected him and seemed to even like him as their leader). Logain's the one Asha'man who can tell the others "yes, I think we can trust and work with Egwene al'Vere".

The decision Egwene made and the promise he made back to her to go to the BT and follow Rand if she let him go probably played a part in Logain's later decisions about the sisters trying to attack the BT instead of managing to get his revenge against the Red Ajah, and even about his decision to be loyal and go to warn Rand about Taim instead of acting unilaterally. Taim's the real bone for Taim. The BT problem is massive at this point (could break the Light's war) and Rand has now seen this, dealing with it will require information/advice from Rand/LTT (if not necessarily his further involvement in the battle itself) and it will require a strong bi-gender force getting involved or the Shadow will kick their asses. The Dreamwalkers may even be needed - we'll see what LTT has to say about Dreamspikes and fighting a foe protected by a dreamspike. I think Rand also needs Logain around because he's the real magnet keeping the Asha'man together, just like Egwene is the magnet holding the female channellers together, and Rand needs such leaders to step up and take matters in their own hands, without him holding their hands. Rand needs Logain and Egwene to merge their forces and work as one organization at least for the duration of the LB (he will ask this of the Asha'man and Aes Sedai at the Fields, I'm pretty sure). That this happens on a small scale among Perrin's group, and in Logain's group is not enough. The Light needs its chanellers to be "as one" from now on (and the evidence is in how the group of Asha'man left in Saldaea fared on its own, without circles and toys). This is their greatest asset to face the Shadow, and this remains their secret asset to offset the advantage the Seanchan gained with Travelling. Together the reunited AS would kick their butts or it would serve as a major deterrent - a single mixed gender battle and they'd see they're totally outmatched.
