Re: I think DomA answered the question best, but the "do you like it" argument is weak. Lo'oris Send a noteboard - 22/02/2011 11:16:24 PM
Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.

She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita.

If I want to read poetry, I read a poem.
If I want to enjoy clever lyrics, I listen to a song.
If I want to read deliriums of a madman whose mind is gone, I read the Necronomicon.
A good, normal "book" is none of the three above, but that excerpt looks like it is.
Fail for me.
Don't care how much he can be respected, famous, liked... to me it's still a fail.
(unless it is actually part of the Necronomicon or something like that, but I kinda doubt it)

Io iudico bene questo: che sia meglio essere impetuoso che respettivo, perché la fortuna è donna ed è necessario, volendola tenere sotto, batterla e urtarla.

I personally see it as more of RJ being a fantastic story teller, but not a well structured writer. - 21/02/2011 06:44:21 PM 1679 Views
