That's quite a straw man argument Sid. No one says RJ was a literary genius. His prose is, in the end, neither better nor worse than Brandon's. The issue isn't about beautiful prose.

The issue is with the dynamics of the story. Whatever you want to say about RJ, he wrote a huge story with very few continuity errors.

tGS had a few, but they weren't all that big. But ToM really sucks on that regard.

As Dom pointed out, the issue isn't Brandon himself. Nor is it entirely the fault of team Jordan. The issue is with the rushed publication. The need to definitely publish anything in 2009 really backfired.

Tell me the story wouldn't have been better if certain events from ToM had instead been in tGS, and I'll know you're being pretty blind to the flaws in the last two books.

No one is arguing that CoT is more eventful or happening or better paced than ToM. It has a pretty atrocious structure. But ToM manages to beat even that. The reason people like ToM is because the story moves forward. But that isn't the point being debated. What a lot of people are saying is that the way the events were placed, a lot of dramatic tension was lost.

Knowing that the two big light side heroes, Rand and Egwene, were already well set in their power and had a huge meeting planned totally robbed the rest of the story arcs of any dramatic power. That, and that alone, is the true issue. The rest are nitpicks that no one would have cared about had this been solved.

Even Brandon has acknowledged this problem by saying that it may be possible to have later editions of the books with the chapters rearranged in chronological order!
