The blue sparks are not necessarily the result of a power-wrought blade. Cannoli Send a noteboard - 04/02/2011 01:59:46 AM
I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before, over at wotmania, but when a Power-wrought blade meets a Myrrdraal's Thank'andar-wrought blade, we see blue sparks.
That could simply be from any blade hitting the Thak'andar steel. People who work with steel every day of their lives, as well as more accessible substitutes, and who have at least a cursory familiarity with metalworking, cannot tell a power-wrought blade from normal steel. The power-wrought nature of those blades does not preclude them from sharing other apparent properties of normal steel. For all we know the sparks are seen so seldom, because few men even manage to cross blades with a myrdraal to strike those sparks, and those we have seen do it have all been very skilled, which is often connected to their ownership of such a blade. Coincidence, not causality.

At Whitebridge when Thom charged the Myrrdraal to allow Rand and Mat to escape, we see blue sparks.

You guys think a former Court bard as widely travelled and deadly as Thom Merrilin might have some Power-wrought knives?
He often complains when he loses "his best knives"...

Just an idle thought.
Doubt it. More likely it is a testament of Thom's skill that he managed to solidly parry the fade's sword with his knives.
