Just take a look at Camelyn. The dreadlords are using Portal stones and/or the Ways to transport trollocs and fades, so they will not fight the last battle by pouring millions of trollocs and fades out of the Blight.
They are going to surprise attack each major city using Portal Stones or Ways (I can't remember if Loial completely destroyed the Ways. I think he just made it so someone from outside could still open the Waygate, which will come back to haunt the good guys as we are seeing in Camelyn, if those Trollocs travelled there by the Ways and a darkfriend opened the gate for them).
Anyways, the northern front won't be that important I think.

The Last Battle: Will the northern front at least extend south of the Borderlands?
