The Last Battle: Will the northern front at least extend south of the Borderlands?

I'm a bit concerned about the Last Battle. Concerned that it will be an anticlimax.
If you live in Tear, Illian or Ebou Dar, will you at least see a Trolloc Horde or two during this World Ending event, or will you only hear stories of distant battles somewhere up in the Blight?
The fact that Rand has Ituralde up in Saldea, and Lan has an army charging at Tarwin's Gap, tells me that most of the big battles are going to take place up on the edge of nowhere.
The mere fact that Lan is going to have some kind of climactic battle up around the Blight, tells me that - even if Lan is defeated, there won't be enough time for the Trolloc Hordes to roll on down south to cover the Lands of men from coast to coast.
Basically, if you were a human you should simply flee to Tear and ride it out, or better yet, head to Mayene or one of the Sea Folk Isles.
Sure, you might encounter the odd bit of rotten food or a disappearing stairway, but it seems the "Hordes of the Shadow" are going to be contained to the Borderlands, and maybe a brief and ultimately unsuccessful raid into Caemlyn.
Heck, the Trolloc Wars will turn out to have been a thousand times worse than this so called Tarmon Gaidon will turn out to be.
Or am I wrong? Will we see a World War, or just a brief skirmish and then all will be well again.
Remember, that most of the world won't be aware of Rand's strike at Shayol Ghul and his Blood on the rocks of Thakandar and all that stuff.
Their attention will only be grabbed if they see Trollocs in the millions, in addition to the odd Dark Cloud on the northern horizon. I would hope that the extent of their plight would at least be made clear by masses of Trolloc armies besieging all the major cities of Randland. This would at least make everyone appreciate Rand's sacrifice when he saves them.
But alas, it seems that is not to be.
