I can confirm that Warner has the rights on an already adapted screenplay! djwilson300 Send a noteboard - 10/12/2010 07:59:07 PM
It is just for the Eye of the World, I heard that a major hurdle in the movie being pushed forward is the uncertianty in how the ending will be recieved.

When I tried to get my hands on the screenplay about a year ago, the rights had just been renewed because it looked like a movie was much more likely.

I love the fact that aSoFaI is being made into the HBO series because that is the only way to give a story of that scope and subtlety even a chance of translating on screen, but WOT is very different. A high budget movie with its fair share of CGI is a perfect platform for WOT, but in order to go the 5-7 film distance it needs, the WOT universe must be marketable outside of the film as well. By this I mean toys. The problem is Jordan's universe does not really lend itself to that as well as Harry Potter, or Star Wars, or even to a lesser extent LOTR. So how can you get a studio to make that kind of $75 mil. gamble on the first installment of a movie series with no ending yet? If I knew the answer, I could probably help get it going again.

If WOT were to be made into a movie series, how many would you like to see? - 10/12/2010 11:22:51 AM 1598 Views
It won't. *NM* - 10/12/2010 02:30:21 PM 329 Views
This is an exercise in futility. WoT will not be made into a movie, so why waste energy on ... - 10/12/2010 03:04:26 PM 755 Views
