Is the White Tower ever going to be respected again.

Apart from the Borderlands, the White Tower and Aes Sedai for the most part are feared. Most monarchs have Aes Sedai advisors, yet apart from Andor and the afore mentioned Borderlands, most seemed pressured into having one. We hear of how the Captain Commander of the WhiteCloak could not refuse a summon by the Amyrlin Seat, like being summoned by the Godfather. Oh yes, he would spend the whole trip plotting how to kill her(much respect there.) Throughout the series we are told how favors from Aes Sedai always come at a price, sort of like healing from Semirhage.

Rarely do we hear of Aes Sedai going out of the Tower to say heal the sick, or go into a town and preside over court hearings. Most who go to the Tower, (some female channelers included) go grudgingly.

With the events happening in the series, the Tower has lost some of its awe; The Tower was the only protection the world had from the Shadow, yet the Dragon made them a side note. Their claim to being the only one authorized to wield the OP was shattered by the appearance of Wise Ones and Windfinder, the latter hiding their strongest away from the Tower while the former think they are "soft". Nevermind what the Asha'man and Damane did to their claim as being the best with the OP.

They have a wealth of knowledge, but they are so secretive that a lot of the knowledge has been lost. When you think of it, no weave should ever have been lost as long as even 1 sister survived. Sorilea taught Traveling to Cadsuane and she is the weakest of the weak. They are like Gholam and his "precious".

With the Last Battle approaching, we find that for the most part, they are inept at using to One Power in battle.

So to recap

1. Lost their influence with the arrival of Rand.

2. Lost knowledge through greed and secrecy.

3. Lost the title as best with the OP with the arrival of the Kin, Windfinders, Wise Ones, Seanchan, and Asha'man. One on one they are better than the others, but the Kin, Windfinders, and Asha'man seem to be more willing to discover new things about the OP as oppose to thinking all is already known.

4. They are not professional killers with the One Power. They are better than the Wise Ones and Kin, but the Asha'man and Damane out class them by far, The Asha'man Flinn, the Asha'man seem to be keeping pace even with the wonders of Nynaeve. When the odds are 1 thousand trollocs to 1, you need channelers who know what they are about.

Do you believe they will rise up to the task or are they a lost cause?
