My take on that scene is that Cyndane slipped through Rand's Ward and is setting him up darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 06/12/2010 04:50:28 PM
So Rand's dreaming of other women while basking in the afterglow...shame on Rand. However, it could be the Pattern's way of telling him how to patch the Dark One's prison the right way.

Lanfear helped drill the bore in the first place, and I think that is why Moridin went through the trouble to retrive her from the Finns in the first place, to prevent someone else from doing it inadvertently, in case Rand, or someone else drew the conclusion they needed her knowledge. The mindtrap was to keep her from running off of her own volition, but its a double-edged blade.

By keeping Cyndane and Moghidien so close to him, the two have to know that the Dark One intends to utterly destroy the universe. Not the deal they signed up for. Reason enough to change sides, or at least drop out of the conflict. Any Forsaken who might have turned coat are dead, or mindtrapped. I think Demandred could care less about the world so long as he has his revenge, though a last minute change of heart at a critical moment would be interesting...

However, I think Rand will rescue Cyndane, not soley because of Lews Therin, but because of her knowledge of the Bore. She drilled it, she should have an idea of its nature, and how to fix it permanently.

Indeed her whole motif of challenging the Creator and Dark One will come to fruition here. She wants power, and probably a good bit of revenge.

I think the Shadow would have been better off by Balefiring her. Her mind is too dangerous, she has to know the Shadow's true intentions by now.

She's said before that she knew how to get through his Wards... personally I hope she just gets killed off at some stage, none of the Forsaken deserve any kind of redemption IMO. Not only that, but her lack of more than token presence since her transmigration has made her character rather uninteresting. If RJ really wanted her to be of central importance he should have woven her in more effectively after becoming Cyndane. Perhaps he was going for suspense, letting the audience know that Lanfear still lived, but IMO she's been relegated to a slave and is even less interesting as a character than she was as Lanfear.

if she is mindtrapped, is she able to effectively change sides? - 06/12/2010 07:00:38 AM 717 Views
Maybe Nynaeve could heal a mind that has been broken by a mindtrap? - 06/12/2010 04:00:43 PM 668 Views
I don't think she'd be able to heal it - 06/12/2010 04:06:53 PM 663 Views
I can see where this is going. - 06/12/2010 07:34:50 PM 698 Views
I'd like to think it can't go that far. - 06/12/2010 10:51:56 PM 624 Views
I don't disagree that there are signs pointing to it, but... - 06/12/2010 07:04:09 AM 766 Views
