Rand: Does his red hair make it difficult to imagine him as a hero for some of you too?

I must admit, I struggled to take Rand seriously for some time due to the strange hair colour RJ picked for his hero. Red headed heroes aren't exactly common in fiction.
In fact, I struggle to think of a single prominent figure in real life or in fiction who was red headed.
If I think of red heads, I think of Conan o Brien, and err... some of William Wallace's sidekicks in Braveheart, and err... yip, that's about it. And maybe that kid who was Harry Potter's side kick.
Heroes are typically dark haired or blond haired, or even white haired on occasion.
Moridin cuts a far more heroic figure, with his black hair and blue eyes, and of course Demandred, with his black hair and dark eyes. Or even some of the blond, brown or even grey haired guys in the series.
Is it just me? If I'm wrong, please give me other examples of red headed heroes in either literature or even in real life, for that matter.

It really is more of a reflection of pop culture than historical parallels where blond=ideal.

No, not at all. The only visualization problem I've had with characters are Rand and Lanfear

The good thing about personal pronouns is they're widely applicable; it's also the bad thing.

The comparison that got me was when they said that Demandred's Johnson was '2nd best' *NM*

Gross. All I can think of when you say proportions is Rand's huge dong covered in red pubes

What could his hair color possibly have to do with it?
