Odin gave up his eye for knowledge, he hung from a famous tree with a spear. Odin was known as the Gambler and the Father of Battles. Odin had two ravens named Thought and Memory, the same words carved on the ashandarei. Odin wore a wide-brimmed hat, and summoned the dead heroes of the ages to fight in Ragnarok, the final battle. I think there are even more parallels. Mat has been a Norse mythology parallel for basically the entire series, so I don't know why a magical hammer named after Mjollnir is such a bad thing all of a sudden.

(P.S. Perrin's biggest parallel is a Slavic god, Perun, and always has been. The entire series has been a mishmash of mythological parallels. It's just that the Arthurian ones are the most plentiful.)
