Would the guy who had been surfing the high tide at noon still be wearing his wetsuit, given the fact that the moon's thread had been erased a few days back in time, and there would thus not have been a high tide?

therefore they would both be dead from balefire that they were not around to make. The pattern fixes paradoxes by shifting after the balefire incident, not by actually going back in time and restarting. This is dependent on the balfire hitting the 2 channelers at the exact same instant in time, which is unlikely in the first place.
