Radically different perspectives, it seems; I bet you don't even like leggy blondes.

Hmm... I had exactly the opposite view (TOM was pretty good; TGS was one of the worst of the series). Of course, I'm a huge fan of KOD and thought ACOS and TPOD were top-half books as well, about as good as TOM, so we're already coming from different perspectives.
Not sure what to say to that beyond the fact ACoS suddenly turned into a decent book for me the third time I read it. Perspective counts a lot, but I'm sure you have your reasons for prefering a given book to another, and I can respect that. It's when people act like Jordan can do no wrong and Sanderson is a Randland apostate (or vice versa), or say, "every book before/after x sucks", that I get exasperated. Obviously I can't tell anyone THEIR opinion is "wrong" (what, it's not REALLY their opinion, they stole it?) but it's generally not worth discussing if they don't base that opinion on any facts.

Disagree strongly on the time line issue - TOM showed what a mistake splitting by 'clusters' was IMO

Splitting it this way was the only realistic choice

My only problems are Mats sudden drop in literacy and the timeline. *NM*

Exactly my feeling on TGS, but I do think ToM inferior to it (though still good).

Right, it's good, but could be better (or it could be better, but is still good).

"Reading" TGS &ToM in audio format and just weeks apart made them work better together. *NM*

I agree. Also, chopping up the timelines was the best decision given the circumstances.
