, and I liked the "don't let them change you" comment with reference to the White Tower. Very appropriate, and it shows that Rand knows that Egwene isn't as mature as he is (which implies that RJ intended this).

But rather than Gandalf (though I agree your analogy is apt) he reminded me more of the movie version of Haldir. When Helm's Deep seems lost, the Elves arrive! Aragorn gives Haldir a hug! And then...poor Haldir.
Also, I too very much liked Rand's parting comment to Nynaeve.
