Did anyone else read this and think of Slayer? Broken Wolf? Known Death? Slayer spoke with references to wolves, like he himself was a wolf in the book. Also, Death has definitely known him.
As to why this would be a bad sign for the good side, I don't know. But then, weirder things have happened.
I find this very unlikely. Slayer is a major bad guy and a big asset for the shadows TAR team. His death would be worthy of celebration rather than sorrow, and would certainly not break the will of men.
I'm pretty sure that this is already happening. Remember the black tower, how the people didn't seem right? How there was something inside them, but it wasn't them. Yeah, that's this.
It seems far more likely that those are just unfortunate victims of the 13x13 transformation. It has never been used before as far as we know, and the series is nearly over. And while I suppose it is possible in theory that this is what the prophecy refers to, I don't think so. To me atleast, the way it is phrased seems to suggest that whoever/whatever the LotE is, he will do what he does to those who serve/praise the shadow, while the Asha'man were forcibly turned.
Not to mention that the turnings are already happening, while the prophecy seems to suggest that the LotE is not yet here.
"Rand lifts his hand to bring freedom to Him who will destroy (snip) and then, shall the Lord of the Evening come. And He (LotE presumably) shall take our eyes..."
That to me suggests that LotE will come only after Rand breaks the seals and opens the bore, and since LotE is the one who will take eyes and skin and such, that cannot be happening yet. But the turnings are already happening, and likely have been for a while now.
