Re: because Egwene has an incredibly important purpose

The Pattern is already straining to contain the chaos unleashed by The Dark One. I think her fear is based out of the very real horror that if we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg, with mass starvation, warfare brewing with the Seanchan, Shadowspawn and the Forsaken, and the instability of reality, they may not be able to survive long in a world with the Dark One fully unleashed. They may truly need as much time as possible to prepare.
Which is bullcrap. How much more starvation and bubbles of evil and the rest can the world take? How many more people will have to die in random ways, how much hungier will they get? Sure, Egwene can order food from ta'veren-protected Caemlyn when she wants, but what about everyone else? The Dark One is still doing a number on the world and hurting humanity's capabilities bit by bit, and they are GOING to have to face him no matter how long they put off the day. All that will happen from then to now is the Light's own capabilities to fight back diminish. And all things being equal, who is Egwene to say she knows better than the Dragon Reborn? She has been entirely focussed on her own quest for power! What has she done to help the rest of the world? How many nations has she liberated or fed or defended from invasion? Even if she is not at fault for her inattention, the fact remains that she is nothing more than a glorified CEO of an organization that has been diminishing in importance since the third book in this series, with little or no professional qualifications beyond a demonstrated ability to hold the job. It would be fine if all she wants to do is boss around Aes Sedai, but she has absolutely no business interfering in with the Dragon Reborn. The "Watcher of the Seals" knows jack-all about them or anything else related to the Dark One. Her growing up in the same village as the Dragon Reborn hardly qualfies her as any sort of competant individual, much less expert.
I don't have much doubt that Egwene was woven into the Pattern to resist Rand as much as possible, much like Latra Posae did. Egwene's almost unnatural stubbornness around Rand isn't as one dimensional as you always make it out to be. There is something supernatural about it, as if she is destined to stop him from making a large error. Once she does that her part will have been played in TG, and Rand can defeat the Dark One, but I'm pretty sure she's going to stir up an enormous revelation for Rand that's going to deflect him in another direction and prevent something as disastrous as the tainting of saidin..
That is utter BS. By that reasoning Rand never had to leave the Two Rivers or do anything. Since he's the Chosen One everything would eventually had come to him.
Given that Egwene, in thirteen books, never had a single thought as to how to beat the DO, having her come up with an enormous revelation that saves the day would be an Dues ex Machina of epic proportions and personally I feel Jordan/Sanderson are too good as a writer do something like that.
The Fateful Concorde prevented the tainting of both sides of the Power. If we'd been reading about the War of Power, you'd be writing long essays about how bitchy and power hungry Latra Posae is, despite her obvious role with hindsight. Egwene's resistance has been a fact since the first chapter of EoTW when we met them. She has a key role to play, and I'm afraid it much larger than being 'the bitch who always wants to skate uphill'.
But the Fateful Concorde never objected to LTT's plan based on that. That was simply a lucky sideeffect. They objected on the basis that the plan might have opened the Bore further

Her arguably irrational objections might be a result of Aran'gar's compulsion. *NM*

Especially that she is gathering armies to convince/force Rand...

Can anyone explain to me why she needs armies for this, anyway?

Rand is the Dragon Reborn. That doesn't mean he's the savior of the world.

Absolutely. I suspected he was doing this the moment he organised another meeting. *NM*

I would find that unsatisfying and not quite logical

Her objection is based out of a fear borne of good reasoning

Of course you'd say that. You just won't get past your prejudice in favor of her, can you?
