I am not so sure... In the vision, repeated reference is made to "the Peace of the Dragon" which sounds like a promise not to go to war in exchange for Rand going to Shayol Ghul to confront Shai'tan (not at all clear that he survives this, btw). The problem was twofold: 1) the Aiel for some reason were not included in the pact; 2) The Seanchan believe their Empress to be greater than Rand as he knelt to her (at least in this future-vision).

The Aiel are totally left out and find no reason to reinvent themselves and so go to war with the Seanchan. The other nations stay out of the fight (as they promised to for the "Peace of the Dragon" ) until Avi's granddaughter tricks the Queen of Andor into abandoning the pact and attack the Seanchan. The Seanchan then capture way more channelers and the Aiel/Westlands are slowly but steadily defeated until we get those painful scenes of desperation and shattered ends to the Aiel (or at least Avi's line).

This was not, IMHO, so much a "dark Rand" future as it was a future in which the Aiel fail to redefine themselves or make a real nation of themselves. Right now, it looks like that future-vision is actually coming true. All the monarchs are gathering and Rand intends to make them swear to something (does he specify that it is a peace he wants?). The Aiel, however, do not seem to be included in the same way. They are there on the Plains of Merrilor but as part of the Tairien contingency, and Rand's thoughts are that he will make demands on "the monarchs of the world in exchange for going to Shayol Ghul to face the Dark One." (TOM, And After). The Aiel, as has been repeatedly pointed out have no king/queen. It looks like he is on his way to not demanding anything of them. Perhaps he believes that ji'e'toh will keep them reasonable, that there is nothing to worry about from the honorable Aiel. Avi's vision shows how false this is.

I still think that the future she saw is avoidable, but right now it looks likely to come true unless something changes either the Aiel or Rand's mind.
