I also like the implication that both Mat and Perrin are providing a similar, if lesser, "Light protection" to their surrounding areas. Perrin's forces are taking in people who can't believe his food doesn't spoil immediately, and the Band is not having spoilings or shortages either. Of course, neither is Andor, where a lot of the Band's food comes from, but that can be explained by Rand's indirect protection over the places where his Loves are. Rand's "Light protection" is mammoth, the skies clear, spoiled things turn new again, tea tastes better, etc. Mat and Perrin just manage to maintain some normalcy around themselves.
I, of course, mean Mjöllnir (or whatever it's WoT-name is). I especially like the fact that it's not just another Power-Wrought weapon- it actually sizzles on contact with Trollocs.
Sidenote- I like how they made Mat and Perrin's godly analogues a bit more explicit. Mat's eye thing, and the rumors about him going into the land of Death for knowledge. Perrin's sweet-ass hammer.
Good stuff.
I want a hammer!
