Like he did in books 1 to 3? Like a young boy? Or would you prefer 4 to 6? When he's an unsure lord coming in to his own, his speech, growing defiant, influenced by Lan's Borderland values? Maybe 7 - 11? His prelude to his descent into darkness is very distant, and filled with cold purpose.

It's not really what he was saying like you were getting at but how Sanderson put his words. It all seems too elevated. Too surreal. Not how anyone would actually speak. What he says is perfectly normal and I could feel like in the previous books it was real. To me, it just wasn't natural here.
About him crying, I not saying it was either. All I was saying was that his voice obviously wasn't that of someone who though he was king of everyone. He should it by acting human in front of everyone.
I guess what I'm getting at here is that when he's at his most human level, the way he speaks doesn't feel normal.

He is pretty... placid. Even when he gets "angry" in once scene, it's meh
