But who's going to slap Egwene when she needs it? Cannoli Send a noteboard - 05/11/2010 02:44:20 AM
Really, Nynaeve might not realize it, but she holds the key to getting Egwene to approve of anyone or anything. All she has to do is criticize them in public and Egwene will think up excuses for them. In tFoH, Egwene is repulsed by Mat's womanizing but when Nynaeve expresses disgust over it in the next book, Egwene is excusing it and coming up with the most specious justifications (he hits on sluts, so his degenerate behavior is okay! ). In CoT, the woman who was always cited for her control over her clothing in T'A'R is agitated enough over Elayne's extramarital pregnancy to lose control over her clothes into the latest in Two Rivers judgemental styles. Now in ToM, when Nynaeve learns of the same thing, Egwene is once again the spokeswoman for tolerance against Nynaeve's disapproval.

All Nynaeve has to do is criticize Rand for trying to break the Seals, and Egwene will start finding excuses for him, too!
