I think a gloating post is totally in order regarding Asmodean. Come on people, this has been one of the biggest sources of contention in the series, and endless fights have spawned from it.
So let's prepare...
*deep breath*
It was GRAENDAL
Oh yeah, we told you so. Move over Lanfear, Sammael and all you other nonentities who fall into lava, this woman was the real deal.
I remember reading FoH years ago and lying on my bed at a game farm and my first words to myself were 'Graendal' when he died, and I kept to it and never wavered. And every book had hints that made it seem more like her
So if you want to gloat about how you were right too, or how much you hate people who were right, or how stupid or cool you think this post it, rant away... but feel the arrogant smugness of a Graendal supporter as it seeps into your PC

Occam's razor suggested Graendal was responsible. Aside from the Slayer theory, all of the other possibilities required big leap of logic, or a huge piece of missing worldbuilding (like anything involving the Finns).
I considered Slayer on behalf of Graendal/Moridin as a decent possibility because it didn't require any of that. It was less likely due to needing 'opportunity' (assassins don't just hope to be in the right place at the right time, they have to make sure they are), but the more RJ fed this 'mystery' and refused to outright answer that the leading candidate was the correct answer, the more I kept thinking... maybe it wasn't her.
And again, if it was so irrelevant to everything else, why urge on the speculation for so long... and in the end provide such an unsatisfying resolution in terms of detail? Yeah, the readers became fascinated with the mystery, but you can't say that RJ didn't throw fuel on it for 7 books.

Given the lack of relevance, I think those of us who were indifferent are the most vindicated *NM*

You're unfair to RJ. It had a purpose.
