2) It never explicitly reveals how she did, although the hunters that Egwene assigns to finding Mesaana (the former black ajah hunters) come up with three ways it couuld be done. She could have been holding another oath rod (obviously with an inverted weave hiding it) that unbound her when she swore. The second possibility is she may have put someone under heavy compulsion and a mask of mirrors and sent them to swear in her place. The third and most likely possibility is that they discover a weave that can make people hear something other than what you say. For example, you could say "I swear I'll lie whenever I feel like it" and everyone hears it as "I swear to speak no word that is not true." This weave can be inverted and tied off so they wouldn't detect it.
It occurs to me that if the AS now have this weave, it pretty much renders the oath against lying meaningless. I mean if an AS is in a situation where they need to deceive someone, they can just speak the truth outloud, while simultaneously using this weave to make the other person hear a falsehood. I figure given how skilled the AS already are at lying via trickery/mental gymnastics, this would work for 99% of them.
Anyway, Another question to you. Would you be willing to give more details about Rand's new abilities in ToM. Does he do more stuff like he did with the apples and such.
They test that and it doesn't work. The oath won't allow them to say something else that people will hear as a lie.
Rand returns to Bandar Eben and restores the supplies there so that the people of the city can be fed. Darkfriends can also be blinded by the halo of light. He identifies the dark friends among the High Lords and Ladies of Tear by lining them up and forcing each of them to look into his eyes. Weiramon and Anaiyella can't do it, so he calls them out and tells them to leave and tell all of the other Dark Friends that they can no longer hide among his allies. When he visits Egwene in the White Tower, even though he's shielded by a circle of 13, Egwene and the Aes Sedai realize that they're powerless to hold him if he wants to leave. Rand says at one point that he no longer fears the shadow because "The time when it could silence me quietly-and therefore win- has passed. The confrontation is assured and the scream that begins the avalanche has been sounded." There's orders of magnitude in power between Rand and everyone else at this point (with the exception of Moridin).
