How does it work?

This is more of a question, than a theory, but I figure it applies since some of you will probably have theories of your own about the answer, as I don't think it's explicitly stated in the books.



It seems to nullify the OP used directly against it, however it isn't the only one. Alivia was wearing a ter'angreal that was similar that made Cyndane's weaves unravel before they reached her.

So apparently it's something that they created in the AoL perhaps used as experiments?
