I just think it a bit one sided to piss and moan about one descriptive scene (washing silk) saying that nothing happened and why do we need to know about washing silk etc, when a very similar (but longer scene) happened earlier. I think a lot of the reason is that blacksmithing is a guy thing while hand washing silk is more 'girly'. The point is, RJ immersed us in his universe by paying attention to detail, whether it be washing silk or making a chamfer knife.
