In EoTW the author had not yet fully developed the storyline and had not yet solidified many of the rules of the universe. At the end of EoTW a voice spoke in all caps. It was the voice of the pattern itself groaning at the discontinuity it saw arising in the series.
The author tried to do something that would become impossible according to later developed rules of the universe: The author tried to have the Creator speak to inform folks that he would not intervene, yet informing people that he would not intervene IS intervention. Thus, in a paradox of space time continuity, what had clearly been the voice of the creator later transformed to have not been the voice of the creator because it no longer made sense to have been the voice of the Creator. The Creator's voice became a RAFO; as in "Read And Find Out what I subsequently made up to cover for the lack of continuity."
However, the author did not intend for this to ever be revealed. The series will finish without the voice returning or an explanation. But I have the explanation! It was the voice of the pattern itself intervening to stop the author from having the creator intervene, all by announcing that it would not intervene. Does that make sense?

A little learning is a dangerous thing.
