PoV Trap! I can't believe you didn't mention it
That's not the PoV trap, since from their perspective, they are right about the Seanchan having the same accent. It's like the distinction between a Southern accent and a Creole vs Georgia accent. Just because it would take someone familiar with one or the other to distinguish between them does not mean the New Englander's perception of them sharing a "Southern" accent would be incorrect. The PoV trap is where a reader is misled by taking a character's opinion for fact. This is more of a case of Mat's Aiel girlfriend calling him short, when he's on the upper side of average. She's not wrong, it's a matter of perception.I totally could have predicted this
What? Tar Valon is a major port city and lots of trade pass through there. I don't recall too many souvenir stands or whatever you're describing. If you're describing artisans and others who make things for the White Tower... I think the WT actually imports a lot of that crap from other places (I refer you again to the part about Tar Valon being a major port).
