Re: After Rand's epiphany on top of Dragonmount, how many of his negative quirks will change? RugbyPlayingAshaman Send a noteboard - 31/08/2010 06:52:15 PM
1) How much more trustworthy will Rand become? Will he allow more people into his inner circle?

He will trust his friends, but will be more tolerant towards those whose roles are ambiguous in relation to him.

2) Will he allow his 3 women to be closer to him and not fear them being assassinated?

No, because he still doesn't want them to be assassinated or targeted. But he may spend more time with them and treasure that time more dearly because of his revelation.

3) Will his phobia of having women go into battle and die for him be lessened? Or will this take the return of Moiraine to fully go away?

Yes, I think his phobia will be lessened. I think he'll start viewing women as fellow beings and not potential victims. No, but I do think that when she returns (at this point, my wish that she not return seems ridiculous) it will enable him to deal with her death.

4) How much will his ego shrink? Will he go to the Seanchen and sign a treaty with them and basially let them have the lands they are currently in?

It will shrink enough where he might very well do things that his friends, allies and descendants will need to work at undoing for years in order to make it to Tarmon Gaidon. He might very well do things that puts them in positions of hardship necessary for everything to be resolved for the Greater Will of th Pattern.

5) Will he actually have a sense of humor now, and be able to laugh/cry?

Yes, but I think it will be between something Cadsuane caused to happen or her death.

6) Will he bring Cadsuane back?

Yes. She's one of his most competent allies (sorry, Cadsuane haters...but consider the company he keeps!), and is one of the few that kept her backbone around him. He needs people like her, especially now that the Aiel are going to start falling apart.

7) Will he meet with Egwene and accept some of her terms? Again, this relates to how much his ego deflates

He will meet with Egwene, but he will not bow to her, except in jest, and not accept any terms she sets. She is one of the few characters that I feel will be in a position to make him feel the negative consequences of some of his decisions. We just don't know what those decisions will be, yet.
