I never meant to imply that Oliver would kill Mat (Matrim) Cauthon, only I thought I remembered a memory of Mat's from one of the other lives in which he was killed by a figure that looked like Oliver. (If I find the memory I will let everyone know.) Matt was so afraid the memories he had from the Finns had come from the eyes and ears of others who, like himself, had bargained with them. He has a fear that they are spying through his own eyes. Meanwhile, Oliver showed up with Snakes and Foxes. Oliver could be a plant or he could be just what he seems. That is what makes the speculation interesting.
I see what you mean! That would be a very interesting option, certainly. I believe RJ has stated that the Finns can't affect the real world, unfortunately (something like that - like if someone wished to be a king, they might put that person in a world where there are no others... bleh), but considering how he's connected to the Tower of Ghenjei plotline... It'd be even more interesting since he's given Mat (or reminded Mat of) the information he needs to get into the Tower and rescue Moiraine. With all the speculation about the Finns expecting him which would lead to his loss of an eye...
