From this reasoning it seems that Birgitte has lived 5 or 6 times in the last 3,000 years at least.

Yes, and it seems she's got most of those between the Breaking and the WOHY.

Her last life was as Brigitte Silverbow, mate of the hero Gaidal Cain, with many stories in the Great Hunt cycle. That life was during the time of Artur Hawkwing. She has no been spun out again in the New Era.

There's obviously no "constant in how often the Heroes are spun out, it's rather as the Wheel needs, and what kind of "correction" of the Pattern is needed, what qualifications are required then. Birgitte/Gaidal under other names and appearances got several lives in the difficult/chaotic times between the Breaking and Hawkwing, and then weren't reborn for a 1,000 years (it seems the Wheel needed things to get to the point they could fall apart at the coming of Rand). Rand was born only once in 3,000 years. It's possible (no way certain, but not historical character we know seems to fit) Hawkwing also had only one life in the third age. B&G rather had several

The second one is a mistake that has been changed in later editions. - 26/08/2010 06:07:01 PM 865 Views
