I still think it would burn back an inanimate object. Like If person A stabs person B with a knife, then person C BF's person A's knife then Person B is alive again (or rather never had died).
And neither does a knife.
I thought that Balefire destroyed everything in its path, save cuendillar and Callandor. Any living thing in said path would have their thread burned back.
If you where to balefire a sword that stabbed your friend it would have no time reversal effect. You would have to balefire the person, hence the thread that lead up to the stabbing. I do not think that inanimate objects have threads in the way that a soul does. It's like balfire burns back the decisions and actions that a thread has done. The sword did not move itself into your gut, the person did.
