the myddraal found rand at the inn after he had ran into padan fain in the street and told him where the group was staying. if ishamael knew already where he was staying why not just swoop in and get him and the boys? he's not trying to persuade them to join him, hence when they were fleeing baerlon and met the trollocs on the hills they were using hooks and loops to capture them
also i think the thom and juggling fire thing is a gaffe. RJ messed up when he realised that min's viewing should pertain to the future.

and consistently in eotw when the red ajah were mentioned and when rand repeats the names of false dragons to thom, thom glowers and becomes very serious obviously because of how his nephew was treated
