However, the TP and the taint are obviously closely linked. But I would also argue that both things are in a way a bit different. The TP was rather the means of how the tainting could be done. Thus, the taint is a result/effect of the TP - perhaps partly corrupted saidin - like the area, where the Blight is now, was corrupted by the TP, but the Blight isn't the TP itself.
If one compares the TP and the taint, taking the TP is described as a most glorious feeling, while the taint is basically rancid oil. If the taint were "pure TP", it should mean that male channelers could have channeled the TP by just taking the taint, which apparently wasn't possible. And the male Forsaken had filters against the taint, but could still take the TP.
Therefore I would agree that one can say that taint and TP aren't exactly the same.
